Dethleff

The story.

Dethleff is a boy with the ugliest name in the world. He is named after the caravan in which he was conceived. His father has long since had another family and his mother moves every two years because she has nowhere to settle. Dethleff has to come along. Always. But Dethleff can't ground himself anywhere either, "he's ne weird, ne quiet, ne loner," people say. He recently moved into an apartment, on the 14th floor, in a neighborhood where he doesn't know anyone.

He is tired of moving. He is tired of having to spell his name, of being alone, of being laughed at, of flattening the tires of his bike, of hiding his book bag ...

Not wanting to go any further, he takes the stairs to the 15th, the roof. The moment he wants to take a step too far, his sleeve is tugged by Kayleigh, the silly box of the 13th floor.

DETHLEFF is the story of Dethleff, a boy who is at a loss for words. And about Kayleigh, who despite her fear of heights crawls up the roof to lend a helping hand to a complete stranger.

About two lost souls finding their way together, about suicide, about loneliness and being on the edge, but most of all about life. Kei-hard about life. About Kurt Cobain t-shirts, about fall gear, about snacking yourself to death, about finally being able to breathe and about having fun until you almost die of laughter.

The Switch, January 2020
"The Mannschaft has already won several awards including the audience award at Theater by the Sea 2016. Their performances often have a loaded theme that they approach in the unique Mannschaftian way: full of humor, intelligent and with respect for those who have been affected by it."
