Sometimes a cup of coffee is enough....

When two people feel for each other, when two people share their love for performing arts, when two people only need half a sentence to feel where they want to go.... then a cup of coffee and a long conversation is all it takes to turn that passion into a passionate business.

And that's exactly our story. Each from a different side: Karen with a dance background and extensive experience in setting up international productions; Frank more from the business side and with strong ties in theater and musical.... but we are both equally souls, call it gusto, call it grinta, call it passion.... let's just put it bluntly: we love theater!

We first met in November '22 and in the spring of '23 we founded Scenious, a company that makes performing arts travel all over the world, from one stage to another, to please one audience after another.... Scenious turns our passion into your theatrical happiness. We look forward to making your work travel the world.

Karen & Frank

Karen Feys
FOUNDER

Karen has a background in dance and theater; until 10 years ago she produced mostly dance performances. She worked with dance companies such as the Bolshoi Ballet, SHRISHTI Nina Rajarani and Ballet Vlaanderen, among others. In 2010, she became co-founder and executive director of the dance company of internationally renowned Belgian-Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (www.east-man.be).

Productions such as Babel, TeZukA, Play, Dunas and others were all produced under Karen's direction. Several years later, Karen joined Pilobolus to produce and distribute Shadowland and Shadowland 2. Shadowland toured all over the world for 35 weeks a year for a period of 5 years. They also performed at the Oscars, the Oprah Winfrey show, ZDF Wetten Dass, etc. The production of the show and touring was right up Karen's alley.

In 2017, she specialized in alternative financing and founded The Last Company, an affiliate of production house The People. Through BeMove and The Last Company, she produces, finances and manages various performing arts projects in Europe.

Frank Aernout
FOUNDER

Franks is a producer of plays and musicals in Belgium. He works for several theater houses, ranging from musicals (Judas) to more repertory pieces (Een Zee) and pure "couleur locale" comedy (Het Achterland).

The most international musical work was done with Judas . Judas created several productions in recent years and currently several of them - such as "The War of the Roses" (world creation of a musical based on the book "The War of the Roses," written by Warren Adler) and "Josephine B." (about the life of Josephine Baker) - are scheduled to play in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Poland and Denmark in the coming years, with many more countries in negotiations. Frank also produces more "classic" plays; his latest production, for example, is a local version of the famous play "The Dresser," written by Ronald Harwood.

In addition to his theater production work, Frank was also an international business executive and held management positions with companies such as Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo and BMG (Bertelsmann Music Group) and most recently CEO of the AI-for-language company Nalantis.
