Lilies
The story.
Canada 1952. Bishop Jean Bilodeau is asked to hear the final confession of a deathly ill prisoner, Simon Doucet. The two are no strangers to each other. They share a past. Led by Simon, a group of prisoners perform a play for the bishop.
The play becomes his final confession. During this play, Bilodeau is confronted with the events that took place forty years before in the Canadian town of Roberval, where Simon and Jean studied together at Saint Sebastian College.
In 1912, Simon is in love with young Count Vallier de Tilly, a ruined French aristocrat living in exile with his mother in Roberval. Countess de Tilly, has been waiting for years for the return of her husband who is in France preparing the return of the monarchy. One day, the mysterious Lydie-Anne de Rozier appears on the scene with her hot air balloon. She tells that she has met the Count and assures the Countess that he will very soon ask his wife and son to return to Paris.
A secret relationship emerges between Vallier and Simon, which completely turns the two young men's world upside down. But this relationship does not remain secret for long. The jealous and cunning Jean Bilodeau discovers their love and makes it public. In prison, old Jean Bilodeau is once again confronted with his past crimes. Crimes, for which not he, but Simon, had to pay. Simon proves with the play in prison that he has been unjustly imprisoned for forty years.
